Wentorf, 22. November 1977
Wentorf, 22 November 1977
Today in Wentorf near Hamburg there is little to remind us that the community was a German armed forces base until into the 1990s. On 22 November 1977, two men attacked a Bundeswehr guard station. They abused the non-commissioned officer on duty and stole his rifle.
The preparators belonged to the milieu of Michael Kühnen, who became a leading figure of the strengthening neo-Nazi movement in the late 1970s. The attack in Wentorf was the prelude to further assaults on military facilities through which the group wanted to capture weapons. The latter were supposed to be used, for example, to carry out attacks against members of foreign militaries stationed in Germany and against the Berlin Wall.
In 1979, the group was put on trial before the Higher Regional Court of Celle – the first criminal trial in the Federal Republic of Germany in which right-wing radicals were convicted as terrorists.
Failler, 1970’lerin sonunda güçlenmekte olan Neonazilerin önde gelen lideri Michael Kühnen’in çevresindeki gruba mensuptu.
